Israel. Gaza

It is fun watching right of centre political commentators settling into five years of bitching against the Labour government's policies. Charles Moore had spotted the 'leather-lined wellington boots' worn by Steve Reed, the new Defra Secretary, who is piloting legislation to ban trail hunting. 

Lord Moore is not amused at the Government's decision, but takes comfort from noting that the boot brand is 'Chasseur'. Moore interprets this in terms of the hunting lobby doing the chase; I fear that in truth it is Moore's clan that is being pursued. Tally Ho...

Nowhere else to start after 4th July. Two small things:

- In the seven-way TV debate, the smaller parties performed very well against Labour and the Conservatives. Signs for the future?

- In an early morning 5th July interview, Conservative Mel Stride observed that his party's core support was in the 65 plus group. Which leaves...

One other Election observation (last I promise). 

I am worried about on the one hand the culling of syllables, eg to create 'particuly', and on the other hand the addition of syllables, eg to create 'interpretated'. Both heard recently. Mind you, I was caught out by a friend who is even more pedantic than me, when I muddled regardless and irrespective and came out with 'irregardless'.
